Cheering on Sally Fitzgibbons

A chilled day on the Gold Coast today turned out to be a super exciting one for me!

I’m over here for the week on a training camp with the Australian BMX team in Preparation for the 2014 season. Had the day off and went to check out the Roxy/Quicksilver Pro Surf Comp at Snapper rocks on the Gold Coast.

I’ve always loved surfing and ever since I first seen this kick-ass chick, Sally Fitzgibbons on the TV a few years back she soon turned  to be my idol. Had some luck on my side today and turned out I picked the right time of the day to go watch, Sal was up next and got to see her entire heat and even had a quick chat and got a few snaps with her afterwards.

So stoked to finally meet her, such an awesome down to earth chick who can’t stop smiling and gives back to her fans so much. She has so many good traits about her that make her so popular in the professional sport world and certainly can see why. Yewww!

Had my first ride last night after flying in with my Coach Sean Dwight. Had an absolute blast, gosh I missed riding the bigger tracks so much.

We have a fun week ahead planned here on the Gold Coast, first time back with the team and riding the Supercross hill after my time out with my knee injury.  Most of the team is here, with a bunch of the ladies all here ready for some good training together as a good preparation for the international season to start.

Perfect for me as its my first race back to the year next weekend in my home state of Perth. Going to be really nice to have my family and some friends watching me next weekend kick off my year and the road to RIO.

It’s been 18 weeks post-op today and I’m feeling fantastic. The down time has been extremely refreshing and went faster than first expected. Thanks to the amazing people around me and supporting me the entire time, tis been a breeze and feel like a new person now.

Bring on racing for 2014.
